Dutch television program Gamekings and corresponding website Gamekings.tv have been around since the early 2000's. It has aired a total of 18 seasons on TMF, The Box, MTV, Comedy Central and eventually Spike. Being an established name in the (Dutch) video games industry, Gamekings distinguishes itself with a very outspoken celebration of video game lifestyle.
This celebration is presented by a group of like-minded video game enthusiasts traveling across the globe doing what geeks love doing the most, while taking the audience along for the ride.
Even though I haven't been part of the crew since the very beginning, I have had the very rewarding opportunity to be part of coming up with, filming, directing, editing and hosting over 100 episodes during the final 4 seasons of the TV show. Covering anything and everything video game related.
We've done reviews and previews of the newest hardware and games, hunted down collectibles, fanboyed in retro game arcades, visited a ton of game events, been mesmerized by cosplayers, and emerged ourselves in the amazing fictional worlds many franchises have to offer in every possible way.
While the Gamekings TV show follows a certain format and is dictated by a very specific time slot the Gamekings website has none of these restrictions. Resulting in a great variety of content that goes beyond what the TV show is about. Things like movie reviews and testing out board games. Doing unboxings and PC-builds and of course the weekly live streams in which viewers can interact with the presenters directly. This is by all means a team effort, and I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
